Now imagine if those gifts never came because the money had to be spent on medical bills and necessities. This is a very real scenario for many chronically ill children and their families. Toys for Kids is an annual project that helps bring Christmas presents to chronically ill children and their siblings. Though private insurance and DSHS may cover some of the costs, all of the extra expenses place a very real financial burden on the entire family. There just isn't enough money to buy gifts for special memories. Mary Bridge Children's Hospital identifies these families in our community and handles the donations so they are tax deductible. A donation to Toys for Kids goes 100% to the cause. Sometimes it is giving rather than receiving, that creates a special memory. Every Dollar is Put to Good Use!
Remaining funds help all year long through the Helping Hands Fund which provides food, gas and prescription vouchers. We have also placed 4 Kidzpace Units in waiting rooms throughout Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. These units provide touch screen games to entertain before and after treatments.
